Early Labour Relaxation Tea

I rarely hear the words labour and relaxation in the same sentence. So, when Dr. Beverly Huang ND suggested this Early Labour Relaxation Tea recipe to assist women during labour I was intrigued.

There are a number of benefits to drinking red raspberry leaf tea in the third trimester of pregnancy and during labour. Red raspberry leaf (the leaf of a raspberry plant) contains a rich concentration of vitamin C, vitamin E, calcium and iron. It also contains vitamins A and B complex and many minerals, including phosphorus and potassium. Red raspberry leaf helps tone the uterus, and prevents miscarriage and postpartum hemorrhaging from a relaxed or atonic uterus. It also aids with the pain of delivery and enriches breast milk.

Ingredients

1 part Red Raspberry Leaf

1 part Stinging Nettle Leaf

1 part Skullcap Leaf

1 part Chamomile

1 part lemon balm

Directions

Mix 1 tsp of the mixture in a cup of hot water. Steep for 10 minutes. Add honey to taste.

Don't forget to run the recipe by your healthcare provider before you make it. For more about Dr. Beverly Huang ND or to book an appointment, visit the Grassroots Naturopathic Medicine website.
